You won't read about this in W magazine, Vogue or WWD... It's top secret info that we are willing (barely) to share with our readers.
The sun is shining and as of last week Walter, of
Walter's Clock and Watch repair, (Conveniently located next door to
Seagull Hair Salon) put the first glimpse of this seasons must have accessories out for viewing. The first weekend Shaun got three broaches/pins, 5 single, un-matching earrings and one ring (re-sized) black enamel ring starring swarofksi crystals all for 40 bucks.
Though his real talent lies in antique clock and watch repair, he has a keen eye for wearable junk.
Now if the word "Junk" sounded rude or dismissive, step inside... Along side antique clocks and watches you will find a veritable treasure trove of hand selected objects d'art, REALLY cool rings, cufflinks, necklaces, pill-boxes and pretty much every thing else a lady could need. There is also a very, VERY good selection of Russian enamel and crystal little eggs.
This shit does not exist downtown anymore. Walter is one of (if not the) last ones around... These shops were run buy the go-to guys, from back in the day when Bleecker Street was "Antique row" Bleecker street shop owners would snag estate and garage sale clocks, watches, chandeliers; all kinds of antiques, bring 'em to these guys on the uns-sightly side streets to have them fixed, then sell them like new.
At least 2/3rd's of Shaun's bling comes from here and everyone from Seagull has found bits and pieces to top off snazzy outfits.
Walter is great. He's a wheeler and a dealer, old school New York style.
Don't miss out.
My favorite thing is the above photo is the heart shaped solid silver ring that stands straight up on your finger like brass knuckles.
XO, Shaun, Seagull
