This Saturday at Sue Scott Gallery, check out Her Compulsion to Repeat, an exhibition of film, stills and installations by video artist and Seagull friend Elisabeth Subrin. The show focuses on the artist's fascination with repetition and re-enactment of primal scenes from the past, and it marks the premiere of her latest installation, Lost Tribes and Promised Lands, a dual projection examining 9/11's haunting influence manifested on a street in Williamsburg. The show will also feature a retrospective of past works spanning 20 years, including 2008's Sweet Ruin, a meditation on love and violence starring the actress Gaby Hoffman. In 2001 Elisabeth collaborated with Le Tigre on their video for "Well, Well, Well."
Her Compulsion to Repeat opens this Saturday the 23rd and runs through February 26th.
