This Sunday, the New Museum and DIS Magazine will host a lecture given by David Riley (Mirror Mirror) dissecting the trajectory of the scrunchie in popular culture, from mass-market novelty hair accoutrement to fashion's most reviled elastic.
Interpreting the Scrunchie takes place at 3:00pm in the New Museum Theater this Sunday the 14th. Here's hoping the lector will also use this opportunity to tackle the Topsy Tail, that awesomely scary hair prolapse instrument whose infomercials tormented/captivated little girls in the 90s with visions of impossibly glossy swaths of hair performing Escherian contortions.
