It will come as no surprise that seminal radical lesbian artist Nicole Eisenman is a Seagull VIP. In her current solo exhibition at Leo Koenig's place we find more evidence of her typical hyper-ovulation: Eisenman's print-making practice is in full bloom. Apparently, her jaw-dropping grid at Whitney's B was only the tip of the volcano. That's not to say Whitney snagged the most incendiary stuff—what Leo has is fantastic as well. The principle at work here is, simply, "the more, the better." While individual pieces might contain a great joke or something beautiful, all together these works constitute an ecstatic scream. It's loud: One need not take drugs or attend a graduate program to discern its utopic vibe—or, alternately, its funny/serious jabs at "important art," patriarchy, and the right wing. Standout imagery in these woodcuts, etchings, lithographs, and monotypes include a psychedelic beard, a swarm of cigars attempting to penetrate all orifices of a head, and Eisenman's refreshing take on the vagina-as-portal trope. On view until June 30th.—Johanna Fateman

Thank you for posting these. I went online looking for a new hairstyle and stumbled upon yr amazing site, and subsequently this blog. Unfortunately, I don't live in New York. If I did I'd certainly stop in for some style advice.
With that said, Nicole Eisenman's work here is amazing. So witty and playful. Gives me lots of inspiration for my own stuff. I'll definitely have to do some research on her. Thanks for sharing!
I'll be reading this blog regularly now that I've found it. I'm definitely a fan (in many ways).
