Seagull VIP writer Laurie Weeks stopped by the salon for a haircut and ended up infecting us all with her amazing energy! Laurie got her hair done because tomorrow she's on a panel for the Brooklyn Book Festival. And she wanted to look just right for the occasion.
In addition to being namechecked on one of my favorite Le Tigre tracks, "Hot Topic", Laurie was a screenwriter for the film "Boys Don't Cry" and interviewed Kathleen Hanna in a seminal piece for Index Magazine in 2000. (We have a page of this article hanging in the Seagull bathroom, and Shaun and Laurie pose with it in this photo.)
We were so happy to have here in the salon. She left us with big smiles.
Meanwhile, Shaun is outside doing cartwheels outside the salon, gushing over his new girlcrush Laurie Weeks, while the rest of us simultaneously read Laurie's latest book Zipper Mouth.
