Writer/director/performer hyphenate and SEAGULL client John Cameron Mitchell stopped by last week with a newly acquired vintage gem recalling another triply named icon: Hal Bartlett's original Jonathan Livingston Seagull screenplay, bound in royal blue leather and stamped with gold foil by "Barbara's Place (We Satisfy)" on Sunset Boulevard. Robert Bach's touchstone '70s fable about transcendence and freedom was, of course, Seagull's namesake when the salon opened its doors in 1971. This screenplay edition smelled amazing, like dusty libraries, hazy 1970s LA, and studio lot ghosts.
